Zwick Testing Machines and Accessories: The Solution of Choice in Metals Testing
Zwick testing machines and accessories: Number one in metals testing.
Together with our partners in the Zwick-Roell Group, we offer you a complete selection of testing machines and systems for metal materials and components testing. We are able to supply a number of patented solutions, e.g., machines with hybrid drives, and accessories developed especially for specific metals tests. Our intelligent test software testXpert® is extremely functional and contains all the relevant testing processes for metals tests.
Our broad product selection for metals testing encompasses many applications. Here are just a few examples:
- Tensile, bending, and stress testing (static and dynamic)
- Testing over extended temperature ranges
- Fracture mechanics, rotary bending tests, dynamic fatigue tests
- Quick tear and puncture tests

| Testing of Heavy Plate: Light Task of Measuring Heavy Samples
The tensile testing of heavy plate poses various challenges to the steel in-dustry. With test specimens weighing up to 10kg operators can have diffi-culty trying to accurately place and align the specimen in the grips of the test-ing machine. Zwick recently provided one of its customers with a completely automatic solution which also allows testing 24 hours per day.

| Everything Automatic… and Still Flexible
Zwick has developed a robotic testing system for testing steel concrete reinforcing bars and concrete mesh reinforcement which performs all the testing automatically, yet still allows flexible testing around the clock.

| Testing of Metal Wire: Improving the reliability of test data
Tensile tests for metal specimens such as wires are often performed in small se-ries of 5 to 20 single specimens. This provides a statistical value for the test re-sults and can identify individual deviations. The time required for testing a series with 20 specimens is somewhere between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on specimen strain and testing speed. If multiple operators perform the tests, the re-sults generally show greater variance. Even different hand temperatures can be a contributing factor.

| Testing Equipment for Static Tests
In order to determine their strength and deformation properties, metals and components are subjected to tensile, bending, and pressure stress as well as to shearing and torsion.
The respective requirements are stipulated in various standards such as ISO 6892, EN 10002, JIS Z 2241, ASTM A 370, and ASTM E8.
Zwick delivers reliable universal testing machines with elongation and width monitors for these tests as well as a large selection of clamping units and units for measuring dimensions in various applications. These systems can be upgraded with add-on devices for determining the friction coefficient or the abrasion.Zwick also delivers systems with different load ranges for testing the plasticity of sheet metal.

| Testing Equipment for Dynamic Tests
Zwick servohydraulic testing machines are versatile: they can be used flexibly in nearly all testing applications. They are suited for tensile, pressure, and bending tests with quick, latent, cyclic or varying loads as well as for static, quasi-static, and dynamic testing of materials and components.

| Testing over Extended Temperature Ranges
Static and dynamic tests may require testing in an expanded temperature range of up to 1200 °C (1600 °C). As a system suppler, Zwick has the necessary accessories to fulfill this requirement.

| Testing Equipment for Fracture Mechanics, Rotary Bending, and Dynamic Fatigue Tests
Accessories developed for specific applications allow the determination of fracture mechanical parameters. The fatigue strength under reverse bending stress can be determined with rotary bending testing machines, the dynamic fatigue strength with economically optimized vibrophores (high-frequency pulsators).

| Impact Tests
Zwick supplies pendulum impact testers and drop impact testers in different sizes for the required testing temperature ranges to determine the impact energy, the impact resistance, and the notched impact resistance based on international application standards such as Charpy and IZOD as well as impact tensile tests and testing to Brugger.

| Test Automation
Many laboratories are equipped with automated Zwick testing machines in order to relieve lab personnel from simple routine tasks.
Operator influence on the test results is minimized as all specimens are tested exactly alike. Test results can be better compared with one another and are statistically more reliable.
