TECSUP in Lima, Peru ( www.tecsup.edu.pe) is an organization dedicated to develop technology professionals in disciplines demanded by the Peruvian labour market. TECSUP's educational emphasis is in the application of engineering to industrial activities. TECSUP has also developed a series of Consulting, Research and Testing Services with the objective of implementing or improving various processes within industrial companies. Testing machines used for teaching purposes are quite often low in functionality and cost, but they are not normally suitable for supporting the wide ranging demands of industry. As a result TECSUP decided to look for high technology testing systems to enhance their image and technical scope of the laboratory.
Zwick's sales partner in Peru, José Luis Zuñiga, was totally responsible for ensuring that the laboratory requirements were clearly understood, and managed the complete project from beginning to end. He was aided by the fact that one of the co-founders of the Institute was the German state of Baden Württemberg where Zwick's manufacturing headquarters is based, and so they knew about the capabilities of the company.
TECSUP wanted so many different items of testing equipment that Zwick was considered to be the only company who could offer the complete package of equipment ranging from a tensile testing machine to an impact testers for plastics and metals, a Universal Hardness Tester for metals, Shore Hardness Instruments for testing rubber, and a Rotary Bend Fatigue Machine.
Mr Juan Musayon, Head of the Mechanical Department is very pleased with his new laboratory. "We are delighted to have so much new technology. I am quite sure that we have the most modern testing laboratory in Peru and we are now in a position to approach industry with confidence because we know that we can do an excellent job for them.". | |
