By using a tear test, this gives paper processors an estimated value of the future behavior of the end product (multi-layered carton, corrugated board). The tear test according to Elmendorf (ISO 1974 or TAPPI T 414), is used as the quality control criteria for the paper producer (final inspection) as well as for the processor (incoming goods quality control).
