The Fibertex Group www.fibertex.com is a market leading manufacturer of needlepunch and spunmelt nonwovens for the industrial, technical and hygiene industry.
With its corporate office in Aalborg, Denmark, and manufacturing sites in Denmark, Malaysia and the Czech Republic, Fibertex is globally represented. Since its foundation in 1968, Fibertex has continuously expanded and today manufactures nonwovens for customers all over the world for many different applications. It currently employs some 800 people worldwide.
The Fibertex laboratories, under the responsibility of Ms. Lena Haugsted Laursen and Ms. Mette Due wanted to replace their ageing testing machines based on DOS style application software which was no longer supported by the original manufacturer. Fibertex also had a custom made software interface connection to their Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Oracle database and needed new test software that was able to export the data files into this database. With production sites abroad, Fibertex also wanted to purchase machines for Malaysia and the Czech Republic and required a supplier who could support them globally.
During a visit to Fibertex, Zwick discussed Fibertex's requirements in detail, at all levels including operators and members of the company management. By setting up a small workshop meeting, all aspects of the project were analyzed and understood and it soon became clear that Zwick was able to handle the project and offer a complete solution for the many tests which are carried out such as the well known CBR test on textiles. The software interface to the Oracle database was easily accomplished using the export functionality in Zwick’s testXpert® software. This software is often used by companies who use robotic testing systems and require test results to be sent automatically to LIMS systems.
Zwick’s long experience in supporting its global customers with high technology solutions contributed to defining a list of project requirements to enable Fibertex to manage its testing infrastructure. Lena and her management team were confident that Zwick could handle the installation, calibration, training, after sales support, quick spare parts supply and software which had to be reliable, yet easy to use, in different geographical locations.
As Lena explains “The complete package from an internationally recognized company such as Zwick provided us with a very cost effective and low risk solution, and they quickly convinced us that they were the best supplier to handle our global testing needs”. We have already purchased eleven machines so far and will order more as we require them.
