Safely packaged – Südpack relies on testing technology from ZwickRoell

The Südpack Packaging Group is one of the leading manufacturers of soft and hard films, flexible plastic composites and bags in Europe. To meet the high quality standards necessary for their products, the company employs two zwickiLine testing machines in their quality control.

Packaging has a great impact on the quality of its contents and also influences consumer purchasing decisions. Both factors represent major challenges for product design, especially where food packaging is concerned. No other product implements as many newly and refined developments to packaging as does food.

Südpack employs two zwickiLine materials testing machines at is headquarters in Ochsenhausen, Germany to meet the high quality standards of its customers in the foodstuff industry. The single-column testing machines with Fmax 500 N are used to perform tensile tests on films to ASTM D882 in the extrusion direction and in transverse direction. The determined material characteristics, such as the strain at break and tensile strength, are evaluated using testXpert software and transferred directly into the SAP database.

The ZwickRoell machines are also used to perform bond strength and sealed-seam strength tests for the final inspection of laminates. The same systems are available in factories in Südpack Bioggio, Switzerland and Südpack Klobuck, Poland with direct SAP connection.
