MGG Polymers Upgrades Testing Laboratory with Pendulum Impact Tester from ZwickRoell 

The company MGG Polymers GmbH, a subsidiary of the Müller-Guttenbrunn Group, annually produces 50,000 tons of high quality plastic pellets and compounds primarily made of PP, HIPS, ABS and PC/ABS for a variety of customer applications worldwide. To characterize the behavior of polymers subjected to impact loading, the company selected a pendulum impact tester from ZwickRoell.

MGG Polymers GmbH uses an exceptionally equipped testing laboratory with state-of-the-art technology to analyze new material flows, incoming goods inspections, and production-related product inspections.

The testing laboratory is staffed 24/7 and the quality assurance team performs all tests in a timely manner by working a four-shift schedule to ensure the quality standards are met.

Together with tensile and flexure tests, Charpy impact tests are the most frequently performed mechanical tests in the polymer industry. MGG Polymers GmbH upgraded their testing laboratory with a HIT 5.5 pendulum impact tester from ZwickRoell. The 5 Joule pendulum impact tester allows all common standard tests such as Charpy tests (ISO 179-1 and -2, ASTM D6110) or Izod tests (ISO 180, ASTM D256, ASTM D4508) to be performed.

All of the recorded impact characteristics can be displayed in a results table and graph using testXpert III testing software. The test results are then exported directly into the QA database.
