Cflow extrusion plastometer

The compact Cflow extrusion plastometers are designed as a stand-alone instrument for rapid monitoring of melt mass flow rate (MFR). They are primarily used for goods inwards checks at plastics processing plants where extrusion tests are performed on an irregular basis.

Range of application

The Cflow is a compact instrument that allows rapid inspection of the melt mass-flow rate of plastics.

It is specifically designed for processors of plastics who do not perform extrusion tests often and who do not require a connection to a PC.

The temperature control of the heating elements, the heating chamber and the extrusion barrel are perfectly matched to each other. The temperature is generated where it is needed. That ensures an excellent distribution of temperature across the full height of the barrel from the outset.

Rapid device control is facilitated by the test granulate contained in the scope of delivery. Addition control options are available for the temperature in the extrusion barrel, for the diameter of nozzles, and barrels with plug gages.

An automatic or manual extrudate cutter, a separating door and a nozzle plug are optionally available for the Cflow.

  • The Cflow is designed for MFR tests according to Method A. Tests to the following standards are possible:
  • Method A according to ISO 1133, ASTM D 1238, ASTM D 3364, JIS K 7210.

Cleaning

Simplified cleaning and quick specimen remains purge

There is a die plug on the underside of the extrusion barrel. Once removed, the die falls downward. This makes it possible to easily remove the die.

This also makes it possible to quickly purge all specimen remains after the test is complete. Cleaning is simplified because the barrel is always accessible.

Extrudate cutter

Extrudate cutter and die plug

The manual extrudate cutter is recommended for cutting intervals greater than one minute. For short cutting intervals use of the automatic extrudate cutter is recommended in order to obtain precisely timed cuts. The die plug prevents premature outflow of the material when plastics with high flow-rates (>  10 cm3/10 min at load 0.375 kg) are being tested. When the die plug is used an extrudate cutter is required in order to eject the die plug automatically when the test begins.
