Certified Quality

Increasing quality awareness has led to greater demands being placed on the accuracy and reproducibility of measuring equipment. Zwick operates a calibration laboratory with DAkkS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, allowing us to calibrate testing machines and systems at the installation site in accordance with the relevant standards and issue calibration certificates which are recognized worldwide.  We have taken the additional step of developing our proven quality management system into an integrated quality and environmental management system, enabling us to take a holistic approach to quality, environmental protection, and health and safety requirements.  Because of this, Zwick in Ulm is certified to ISO 14001 and qualified in accordance with the Security Safety Management (SeSaM) system.

Engineering "Made in Germany"

Development and manufacture of materials testing machines, including all mechanical, electronic and software components, together with the comprehensive range of accessories, takes place at Zwick Roell's production facility in Germany, so all components work together seamlessly. This means that every materials testing machine is produced to the highest quality standards and Zwick can offer the best possible support.

Integrated Safety in Accordance with the EC Machinery Directive

The statutory safety requirements of the EC Machinery Directive are implemented in all Zwick machines, while an EC Declaration of Conformity accompanies every machine. The most state-of-the-art safety technology and proven industrial components that comply with the highest safety and industrial standards (IEC 60947 etc.) are used. A high degree of safety for user and testing system is guaranteed.

Safety for the entire testing system

The 2-channel safety circuit, including Emergency STOP, crosshead limit-stop switch and interlinked accessories, Drive OFF switch and motor brake function, together with the operating-mode selector-switch, ensure enhanced safety during set-up. The CE-compliant electrically interlocked safety device prevents interference with the machine during the test.

Ready for the Next Generation

Modular design means that the testing system can be reequipped or upgraded whenever required. Moreover, testControl II machine electronics are compatible with future-generation Zwick software. Even after a product has been discontinued, spare parts remain available for a minimum of 10 years.

User Safety

Intelligent safety functions, industrial safety technology, selectable operating modes and compliance with the new EC Machinery Directive all combine to ensure maximum safety for the user.

Data Security

Zwick's testXpert II testing software guarantees maximum security for user data and test results. Protection from manipulation is ensured by intelligent user management, comprehensive access management, and the Expanded Traceability function.

Specimen Safety

Active sensor monitoring, force limitation during setup mode plus intelligent force increase detection and force zero control in testXpert II safeguard the specimen against unacceptable overloads.

System Safety

The intelligent sensor identification system in combination with the test environment concept prevents damage to the testing system if limit values are exceeded. In addition the new system monitor enables total supervision of key system status indications and offers preventive advice.

System Monitoring

testControl II system monitoring provides the user/laboratory manager with detailed information on the current status and level of utilization of the testing equipment. This enables further increases in testing equipment availability and greatly simplifies maintenance planning and spares/replacement procurement.

Flexible, Expandable and Ready for the Next Generation

Mechanical Modularity

Mechanical modularity enables the testing system to be augmented from the wide range of Zwick test fixtures and specimen grips or with customized devices. This is where the highly adaptable, play-free plug and T-slot system comes into its own, backed by a wide variety of crosshead mount options. This allows specimen grips and test fixtures to be changed whenever required, enabling a wide range of tests to be performed with the same testing machine and making it fast and easy to adapt the machine to the current test task.

Exclusively from Zwick: Xforce Load Cells

The patented Xforce load cells are designed and manufactured by Zwick. Possessing excellent resistance to overloads, they are exclusively available from Zwick and offer outstanding accuracy and high resistance to parasitic influences. With Xforce load cells, parasitic influences such as temperature and transverse forces have significantly less impact on test results than with other comparable load cells. Xforce load cells are also very stable and have greater resistance to factors such as transverse forces during compression and flexure tests.

Extensometers

Zwick has the optimum extensometer for every application. Innovative solutions (some are even patented) guarantee maximum accuracy and reliability, high specimen throughput and outstanding operator ergonomics. This wide range of extensometers can easily be integrated into the testing system via the various mounting options.

Automation

An automation system can be applied to the testing machine whenever desired with a view to achieve an even more efficient test sequence.

Temperature and Media

The design of the AllroundLine and zwickiLine makes them ideal for use with temperature chambers, high-temperature furnaces, and water baths. These integrated solutions ensure simple, efficient operation.

Data Link

Any type of database connection is supported, regardless of how test specifications and results are managed.

Multimedia

Both webcams and high-speed cameras can be connected. Test results can also be displayed on smartphones.

Displacement Transducers and Sensors

The large number of highly flexible interfaces facilitates time-synchronized integration of load cells, displacement transducers and other sensors including measurement amplifiers, measurement bridges, etc. whenever required. This also ensures very high measurement accuracy and reproducibility when customized or special sensors are employed for a particular testing situation.

Ergonomic Operating Philosophy 

Ergonomic Operation

Ergonomics are top priority when it comes to operating the new AllroundLine machine. Zwick materials testing machines can be adjusted for optimum ergonomic configuration; modular design allows adaptation as and when required.

  • The zwickiLine can be operated in vertical or horizontal orientation as required and can be swiveled 180° in horizontal mode.
  • With the AllroundLine materials testing machines, the working height can additionally be adjusted via leveling feet to suit individual requirements. These features also allow wheelchair-friendly operation of Zwick materials testing machines.
  • The cLine provides accessibility from all three sides.

Full Support with testXpert II

Our leading testing software testXpert II provides support for the user during setup, performance, evaluation, and documentation of the test. Functions such as automatic sensor identification or the intelligent Tutorial and Wizard concept simplify testing. Experience gained from 20,000 successful installations speaks for itself.

Ergonomic remote control with display

Tests can be performed entirely via the display remote control, independently of the PC. All important information is shown on the display. Machine operation is therefore more ergonomic and effective. The rocker-switch with integrated dial makes positioning fast yet highly accurate.

Test Environment

All relevant machine and safety settings, such as fixture separations or sensor configurations, undergo direct, one-time assignment to the test programs as test environments.

Since 2014, the Stiftverbund (German Sponsors Association) has recognized research companies for the responsibility they assume for their country and society with the seal "Innovation through Research."

The Stiftverbund is one of the largest private research funders in Germany. In addition to its commitment to the next generation of academics, excellent institutes of higher education and advanced research, it also responsible for examining and evaluating German research and innovation systems. How much does the economy invest in research and development in Germany? What impact does this have on the future of this country? These questions are the focus of the R&D survey which takes place annually on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
